Low Vision Support Group: Offers Conversation And Compnaionship For Those With Poor Vision

As seniors become older, they face great and unique challenges.  Difficult as it may be just to be at an old age, losing vision makes for an even greater challenge. The world around them may become lonely and unforgiving, making for a very hard time. Bert Copple, the General Manager of the Home Instead Senior Care franchise office in Birmingham, Michigan hosts and facilitates the Low Vision Support Group which takes place at the Birmingham Senior Center. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 am. A growing group of more than 20 seniors meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 am. They all gather together to gain knowledge and resources on dealing with low vision, to sit and talk to one another, and even go on field trips.

“This month we’re having a guest speaker talk about the many changes in Medicaid and Medicare law,” says Copple.  “This is a topic that affects each and every one of them, and the more education we can provide, the more empowered they will all feel.”

The group meetings are free, and even transportation can be arranged for seniors wanting to attend who are within a ten mile radius of the senior center. The center is located at 2121 Midvale Street, Birmingham, MI. The next group meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2009. For more information you can call 248-203-5270.
