Home instead Senior Care of Birmingham-MI is offering scholarships for the Birmigham/Bloomfield Art Center’s Seniors @ The Center program. Join us once a month for drop-in workshops featuring art projects that entertain and educate. All materials are provided, and you can expect to complete a project in about 45 minutes. Caregivers are encouraged to bring their seniors for a time that won’t soon be forgotten. This is a great opportunity for seniors to allow their artistic juices to flow, even if they have never done it before. Everyone is an artist.
“Anyone can do these projects, and we must remember that one person’s disability or inability may allow them to express themselves in other ways,” says Bert Copple, General Manager of the Birmingham franchise. “I brought a group of seniors from my low vision support group, and these folks who are legally blind displayed some amazing emotion in their paintings. It was beautiful to watch, and inspiring to be part of something like this.”
This chance only happens once a month, so don’t miss this great occasion to show off your stuff! The Seniors @ The Center program runs every second Tuesday of the month, and seniors can drop in between 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. to complete their art projects. There is no cost, because Home Instead sponsors the event.
Caregivers should look into the next two scheduled workshops and get your senior out of the house and allow them to show off their creativity, as well as your own. The next two sessions have been scheduled as follows:
-On Tuesday, October 13, participants can try-out CYANOTYPES and learn the alternative photographic process that uses the sun to make artisitic paintings.
-On Tuesday, November 10, seniors will try BATIK, the art of decorating wax-resist fabric dying to make a wall-hanging or a scarf.
